Business Owner Accused Of Insurance Fraud

A woman is accused of staging a robbery to defraud an insurance company.

The State Department of Insurance says Leslie Nowell of Wilson is charged with two counts of insurance fraud and obtaining money by false pretense.

Authorities say Nowell told Wilson police that she had been robbed of jewelry and cash while working at her business, Divine Decor & Gift. Investigators say Nowell received two checks totaling $6,693 from Nationwide Insurance Company for the loss.

Bond for Nowell was set at $1,000.
