Police Led On High Speed Chase After WalMart Robbery

Police say a man who robbed a WalMart this past weekend led them on a high speed chase through Goldsboro.

Darrell Braswell is charged with armed robbery, speed to elude arrest, hit & run, assault with a deadly weapon and several other traffic charges. Susan Hunter is charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, aiding and abetting a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say an officer was approached by WalMart security who said Braswell just stole various items and when confronted he charged them with a utility knife. The officer tried to stop the vehicle in the store parking lot, but it took off off down Highway 70. Police say near the intersection of West Grantham Street and Claridge Nursery Road, Braswell sideswiped another vehicle.

Then, police say, he collided with the railroad tracks on West Oak Street. With the help of Wayne County deputies, they were able to stop the vehicle on Rockefeller Court.

Bond for Braswell is set at $290,000 while Hunter has a $75,000 bond.

"...collided with the railroad tracks"? Did he hit the trestle? Or did his car shrink to the matchbox size?
