Deputies Say Four Dollar General Robberies Connected

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating a string of armed robberies they say are connected, all targeting Dollar General stores.

The latest robbery happened last night at the Dollar General store at 2469 US 117 South. Captain Tom Effler said the suspects are two to three males going inside and holding up the clerk.

Since November 2009, Effler says there have been four holdups at Dollar General Stores in the county and deputies believe they are all connected. The Dollar General on Highway 117 was held up the first time on November 27th, another Dollar General in Pikeville robbed on December 13th, and the Dollar General on U.S. 13 in Goldsboro was held up on January 25th.

If anyone has any information they are asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 919-731-1481 or Goldsboro/Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
