Insurance Agent Charged With Embezzlement

A former insurance agent is facing an embezzlement charge after state officials say she pocketed insurance premiums.

Wendy McGuire of Fremont in Wayne County voluntarily gave up her insurance license in July.

The North Carolina Insurance Department says between June and December of last year, McGuire took $7444.79 in premiums instead of sending them to her employer.

McGuire's bond was set at $7500.

What a shame that a person entrusted to take their clients premiums and apply them to their insurance policies instead took the money and pocketed it. Now, not only are these people out of money but also have NO INSURANCE as their policies have surely lapsed. Never pay for your insurance in CASH. In fact, most companies will NOT accept cash. If you are scared the government will track your money if you have a checking acct, then but a MONEY ORDER!
