Man Shot After Knock At Door

A Goldsboro man is recovering after getting shot by a person who knocked on his door.

Goldsboro Police say someone shot Clifton Dickins at his home at 306 Mulberry St. in Goldsboro. Detectives say three men knocked on his door at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, asking if a particular person was there. When Dickins said no, they got into a scuffle, and one of the men shot Sickins in the thigh.

Police say Dickins was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro and is expected to be ok. Police say they do not have any suspects.

Security screens are wonderful devices. If you don't have one, and don't know them, don't open the door. It's as simple as that. If it's late at night, don't open it even if you have a security screen. I mean really.

when my husband and i lived at some apparents off 5th/10th street we had these shady dudes come up 3 times on different nights asking if "G" was there. We only answered the door once but they came back 2 more times knocking then left. And a few weeks after that, some drunk/high looking guys came knocking on our door. These kinds of people are either looking for someone to kill or looking to rob you by peering inside your door to see what you have so they can come rob you later. Don't answer the door to any strangers, that is definitely the best piece of advice especially now that it is almost Christmas. Stay safe everyone.

never open the door to anyone you don't know.if you go to the door "DO NOT"stand in front of the door but off to the side.if they bust the door down and come into your place of residence then shoot to kill as then they can't come back 5 years down the road with revenge in mind..
