More than 15,000 units of a variety of prescription medicine are now off the streets in Wilson County.
The event was called the Prescription Drug Drop Off Day. It took place at five different locations throughout Wilson County.
In all the Sheriff's Office, Wilson Police Department, DEA, and the Wilson County Substance Abuse Coalition took in over 17 thousand dosage units.
A spokesperson says if they can keep these prescription drugs out of the hands of just one child then the event is considered a success.
The coalition plans on having another event like this in the spring of 2010.
