The mother of a baby who died last week at Pitt County Memorial Hospital has been charged with child abuse.
Doniesha Core was arrested Friday by Goldsboro police for negligent child abuse with serious bodily injury.
Police say six month old Diamond Smith was brought into Wayne Memorial Hospital by her parents with fractured ribs and unexplained bleeding on the brain. She died two days later at PCMH.
Police have already charged the baby's father, Ronald Smith, with murder.

Police say their investigation into the baby's death is ongoing.
