Wilson County Schools To Enforce Dress Code More Strictly

The dress code policy isn't new, but one school system's enforcement and punishment for offenders gets a lot tougher Wednesday.

Wilson County schools says high schoolers found to be violating the dress code will now start getting sent home from school. That's according to the Wilson Daily Times, which reports students used to get a lunch detention, and then after school detention before getting sent home. The paper says the main dress code offense at Wilson County High Schools is sagging pants.

I'm a teacher and I get soooo tired of seeing boys behinds because they wear their pants below their butts! Then they walk like they have a diaper full of poo!! Furthermore, those baggy pants can conceal all sorts of illegal things - dangerous things. Good for the school board!

Instead of clothes lets worry about serious situations like weapons, swine flu, and other more serious things. If I was teacher clothes would be the least of my worries.

Why don't we just leave the kids alone? Who cares what they wear. If your child is looking at what someone wears than they just don't want to learn. I went to school in the 90's and we wore what we want. Nobody I know was just sitting there looking at clothes. We did our work. It is just foolishness. Just teachers that don't want to teach. Leave the kids alone. There are enough dropping out already and they are going to their GED's. So nothing is stopping them for getting what they want. And where does that leaves the schools paying back more money they can't afford because there are less students to teach. No money for teachers or other faculty members.

I'm from Wilson. The School Board was talking about uniforms which I agree will cost too much and am glad we did not get them. The solution all along was to enforce the dress code policy which they haven't. If they applied the original rules we wouldn't have to take drastic measures. Most of the kids that are getting suspended would be getting suspended anyway because they are repeat offenders. My problem with this is that the student that has never had a dress code violation before doesn't even get 1 warning now. There are little details in our dress code policy that could cause problems like "t-shirts that have offensive writing on it" who determines what is offensive? or "pants worn at the waist" - I don't think any jeans nowadays go up to the waist, they stop at the hips. We'll see what happens.

A solution to that problem is to not wear printed t-shirts and jeans.

I WAS WONDERING WHAT WAS TAKING SO LONG TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE DRESS CODE. EVERYONE SHOULD BE IN UNIFORM. THE SAGGING PANTS ARE A DISGRACE AND SO IS THE KNOT UP HAIR. DIFFERENT COLOR HAIR AND PIERCE OF THE BODY SHOULD BE OUTLAW AT THE SAME TIME . PLEASE CLEAN UP THE SCHOOL FOR THE CHILDREN WHO DO WANT TO LEARN. IF ANYONE CAN AFFORD ALL THESE NAME BRAND CLOTHES YOU CAN AFFORD UNIFORMS . CITI TREND HAVE UNIFORM ALL DAY. SO JUST GET WITH IT.

What is the point of a RULE (dress code) if it was never enforced? This is the problem with society. It takes forever to get a rule or "code" into place, then we spend all of this time bending it, just to appease the people that are feeling disrespected due to said rule or "code". How about this? Stick to the RULE!!!!!! If you enforced what the rule was, then everyone would just have to get used to it. But NO...............make a rule and then two weeks later propose "changes" to the rule....just classic.

The codes should say WHAT NOT TO WAIR.It should not state what you HAVE TO WAIR that is just stupid.I agree with only a couple of post up here.UNIFORMS COST TO MUCH when you live on a tight budget.

The school do need uniforms,But what need to be done if possible,That is an if,every child could be measure for the right size maybe that can solve the problem. And believe me clothes does have a lot to do with some kids learning.
