FIRST ON WITN: Former Cop Charged With Rape, Sexual Offenses

A former police officer has been charged with four sex offenses, including a rape charge.

Goldsboro police say Walter Finley, Jr. was a police officer there from 1993 through 1999, when he resigned. Police say the offenses happened between 1995 and 2000, at a time when he was an officer.

Police say there is no evidence to suggest that the 40-year-old Finley committed the alleged attacks while on duty. All of the victims were acquaintances of the suspect.

He is charged with one count of first degree rape and three counts of first degree sexual offense. Finley is in the Wayne County jail on a $1-million bond.

The story states he was a cop when the alleged offenses took place. That fact is probably why the story states he was a cop.

The media in general try to make the police look bad any time they can. If they can sensationalize a story with the headlines "police or cop" they think the story will have much more impact. I totally agree with you anon, I guess it would be safe to say that everyone was a former infant. Why don't they put that as a headline, "former infant charged with rape."

I ve know him went through Basic with him. He is a good man . We need to know the facts before we judge! Till then lets see what happens. If he is guilty then so be it . Justice will be served.
