The trial of a woman accused of running a puppy mill will continue this morning.
Virginia Thornton of Mount Olive in Wayne County faces a dozen misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty. The Humane Society seized nearly 300 dogs from her kennel in February.
A former Humane Society Director testified Wednesday that he warned Thornton many times to improve the conditions of her kennel, but saw no improvement. That's according to WRAL.
Many of the animals seized in February were emaciated, had untreated cuts and were living in filthy conditions.
We'll keep you posted on the trial.
