Wayne County Man Accused Of Having Sex With 15-Year-Old

Wayne County detectives say they have caught a statutory rape suspect who met his victim online.

The suspect is 29-year-old James Broadway Jr., of Goldsboro. He has been locked up under a $100,000 bond.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department put a warrant out for Broadway's arrest Wednesday. They say Broadway ran from them, but they took him in custody Friday.

According to detectives, Broadway was having an online relationship with a 15-year-old Wayne County teenager through MySpace, and he then went to meet her and had sex with her. Her parents filed a report a couple of weeks ago of the statutory rape.

Detectives say Broadway has no prior history of sexual assault, but he has been arrested in the past of other misdemeanors.

This is why parents need to stay on and know all aboutwhat their children are doing. My children have myspace but I look at their stuff daily.

Chris, some parents are not parents, they just live in the same house.

I bet she was a real winner to have went for this guy.. I somehow wonder why she could have such conversations with a older man and the parents were oblivious of it.

I have seen people(male and female) who because of low self esteem and the fact that every one wants someone to love them make bad relationship choices. Now I am not saying that they should not get in trouble but many of these young kids know what is going on and they also should shoulder some of the blame if they are found to have mislead the other person.

Let me play devils advocate here what if the girl lied to the man. I have heard stories and even seen girls who look like they could be over 18 but they are not. Several old friends of mine have told me stories of meeting someone and then finding out that the person lied to them about there age. Whether we want to admit it or not these teenagers today are not like we were when we grew up. Some of them are hot in the tail and go after older people. I am not saying that the those who mess with kids should not be punished but so many of these people are seduced. Take a person with low self esteem and then someone takes notice and give them attention they forget/miss all the signals that this person is too young for them. Now if you are a repeat offender then there is no excuse. People with low self esteem make bad relationship choices.
