Two men who confessed to being illegal immigrants are behind bars on drug charges, according to lawmen.
Augustin Renteria, age 22 of Wilson, and Jesus Rodriguez, age 47 of Wilson, were arrested.
Lawmen say they took the two into custody at a "traffic checking station" on Highway 58 near Adolphus Boone Road in Nash County this week.
Officials say a K-9 at the station alerted them to the suspects' vehicle, and a search revealed 221 grams of cocaine and hundreds of dollars.
Lawmen say both suspects confessed to being illegal immigrants. Both suspects were charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine and trafficking cocaine and placed in jail under a $500,000 bond each.
Rodriguez was also charged with a March drug violation in Nash County.
The arrests were part of a joint investigation with Nash County Sheriff's Office, Wilson County Sheriff's Office and Wilson Police Department.
