Stimulus Allocates $2.7 million For First District Public Safety

Congressman G. K. Butterfield said that federal stimulus package directs more than $2.7 million into policing efforts across his district.

Butterfield says the funding will help bridge some of the gaps and keep police officers on the job.

Grants may be used to provide personnel, equipment, training, technical assistance, and information systems for more widespread apprehension, prosecution, adjudication, detention, and rehabilitation of offenders who violate such state and local laws. Grants also may be used to provide assistance to victims of these offenders.

The funds were distributed according to a formula calculated by the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics. Under the law, 60% of each state's allocation is awarded to the state and 40% must be sent to local government.

The following cities, towns and counties that are part of the First Congressional District were awarded formula funding through the program:

Hey, Butterfield...use some of that money for immigration enforcement. Oh, I forgot! You'll never do that. You're to busy trying to give away more freebies and benefits to non citizens...like the SCHIP bill. According to your commercial, we're suppose to call and "thank you?" I think not! This money will be used to support illegals and their offspring. It will allow even more to feed from the government trough. We're in this mess because we've been funding illegals and all their babies; while neglecting our own. Now there's an ever growing population of illegals and their numbers in births alone cost taxpayers more in entitlements and benefits than we can afford. Instead of cutting them off and limiting our resouces to legal citizens, we kept expanding their freebies. We give, they take and the beat goes on. The chickens have now come home to roost. How much more "bailing out" can we do. This problem has impacted our economy, housing, schools, health Care system and infrascture.
