UPDATE: Wilson police say the Silver Alert for Shawn Smith has been cancelled. No further information is immediately available from Wilson police.

A Silver Alert was issued for a man from Wilson Thursday morning.

Officials are searching for 39-year-old Shawn Smith. Lawmen say Smith is suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Smith was last seen at 406 W. Lee St., in Wilson, and officials did not know which direction he may be headed.

The Silver Alert says Smith is a six-foot-tall black man who weighs 200 pounds. He has short black hair and green eyes.

Lawmen say Smith's right arm does not move properly because of a stroke. He is missing his front teeth. Smith was last seen wearing blue jeans, a brown coat and a black baseball cap.

Anyone with information about Smith is asked to call Sgt. Doughtie at the Wilson Police Department, at (252) 399-2323.
