Wayne County Schools Proposal

Another county school system is looking at moving some students around when the new school year starts this fall.

Wayne County school officials say they're reviewing moving the students at the county's two alternative schools, Southern Academy and Belfast Academy, to the Goldsboro Intermediate School campus. The fifth and sixth graders at Goldsboro Intermediate would move to Dillard Middle. Dillard would become a school for grades five through eight.

Officials say the re-organization could help save money. If the board of education wants to move forward with the plan, there will be a public hearing first.
