UNC To Face Vermont After Catamounts Roll Lamar 71-59

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Four McGlynn came off the bench to score 18 points and Vermont grabbed an early lead and hung on to beat Lamar 71-59 on Wednesday night in a first-round NCAA tournament game.

Matt Glass added 11 points, Sandro Carissimo 10 and Brian Voelkel had 12 rebounds to help the Catamounts earn a spot against top-seeded North Carolina on Friday in Greensboro, N.C.

The Catamounts (24-11) shot 50 percent from the field, blending an inside presence with McGlynn's touch from the perimeter.

Devon Lamb and Mike James each had 16 points for Lamar (23-12), which had won six in a row since first-year coach Pat Knight ripped his seniors after a loss in late February.

Virginia and Florida State are the only ACC teams worth pulling for. Got to support my dad's law school alma mater (UVA)! Florida State just cause they have never done much of anything in basketball and are on a roll this year, I like seeing what they have done. At least UVA and Va Tech fans show respect for ECU unlike those fans of those pathetic triangle schools. May the Dean Dome and Cameron get bombed!

I'm a Duke basketball fan and have plenty of respect for ECU. I grew up in Greenville and will always support the pirates no matter what. I've just always loved duke basketball since I was a kid. UNC fans are more of the ECU haters. Why they are? I have no clue.

I am a UNC fan and am not an ECU hater. It kills me when the idiots here try to assume they know everyone on the freakin planet and what they like or dislike. Wish you all would stick the the facts and you dont know all of the facts, nobody does.

I will be supporting Vermont if they pull off the first ever 16 seed-1 seed upset in the history of the NCAA tournament.
