Sidney Lowe's quotes from his Friday afternoon press conference prior to N.C. State's Saturday game in Durham against ACC rival Duke.
On Ryan Harrow’s condition:
It wasn’t a cold, just some kind of bug. It wasn’t anything that was contagious. [Ryan Harrow] was just really weak, couldn’t keep much on his stomach for a while. They had the IV in him, but were just trying to get him back to full strength.
On Ryan Harrow’s prognosis:
[Ryan Harrow] might give it a shot today. I talked to the doctor last night about him. He said he was feeling a little better, just a little achy in his legs. We probably won’t push him too much in practice, just see how he feels, and then decide from there.
On Tracy Smith’s knee:
[Tracy Smith] said it felt a little like tendonitis, I just told him to get treatment on it. With tendonitis, there’s not much you can do, just ice it down. He said it wasn’t the same pain he had with his injured knee, though, so that’s a good sign.
About NC State’s late second-half run against Virginia Tech:
The frustrating part is knowing that you can do that, but we have still have to figure out how to do it all the time. There’s something about playing this game, where you need somebody to do something to get you going again. Whether it’s a great defensive play or somebody taking a charge. They see that we can do that, but we have to see if we can do it consistently.
On Duke’s toughness:
There’s no question that [Coach Krzyzewski]’s not going to have you if you don’t want to play hard. His best players play the hardest, and that’s what you need. When your best player is your toughest player, or your most aggressive player, then you’ve really got it. Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith set the tone, and the other guys follow that.
On Cameron Indoor Stadium:
It’s one of the toughest placest to play in the country, no question about it. You have to be on top of your game, and you can’t give them big plays. You can’t turn the ball over and let them go down and get a dunk, that gets the crowd going. They use anything they can to get themselves going, and they don’t need much over there. The crowd is great. When they’re down, which they aren’t very often over there, the crowd cheers. They don’t put them down, they pick them up, so that gets them going again. It’s an advantage for them.
