Authorities say a mother of three is dead, along with her ex-husband after a shooting Monday in an upscale Raleigh shopping center.
Police have identified the victim as 41-year-old Kathleen Bertrand of Cary. They say the man who committed suicide several hours later behind a building on Wade Avenue was Christopher Bertrand of Hoover, Alabama.
The woman was shot while she was reporting for work at Pier 1 Imports at the Cameron Village Shopping Center around 9:30 a.m. Witnesses say they heard six or eight shots.
Multiple schools in the area were locked down for most of the day until lawmen found the second body shortly before 2:00 p.m.
The Bertrands had three children and police say they are now with family members.
Police found a second body near an upscale Raleigh shopping center where a woman was shot to death this morning.
Police have not yet said whether the second body, found in the 1000 block of Wade Avenue, is connected to the first shooting.
During an afternoon news conference, police said the second shooting was self-inflicted and was discovered around 1:50 p.m.
Police said the man was wearing clothing matching a description they received after the shooting.
The first shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. in front of Pier One Imports, located in the Cameron Village shopping center on Daniels Street. Police say a woman employee of the business came to work and was shot and killed. Six shots were fired and the gunman left the shopping center on foot.
Eight nearby schools, including Broughton High School, were placed on lockdown for most of the day. Those lockdowns were lifted around 2:00 p.m.
Police earlier released the photograph of a man who they said they wanted to interview in connection with the first shooting. But they did not release the man's name, nor if there was any relationship to the shooting victim.
Police said they would release more information as it became available.

Detectives released a photo of a man they are trying to locate for an interview. The man who is in his early 40s stands about 5'9" tall and weighs 220 pounds. He may be wearing khaki trousers and a dark shirt. While police released the photograph, they did not release the man's name.
