Three more Democrats have announced they aren't seeking re-election to the General Assembly this year, including two drawn into districts with incumbent Republican lawmakers.
Sen. Linda Garrou of Forsyth County and Reps. Jennifer Weiss of Wake County and Edith Warren of Pitt County made their decisions known Tuesday.
New Republican-drawn boundaries placed Garrou into the same district with Republican Sen. Pete Brunstetter, and Weiss in the same district with GOP Rep. Tom Murry. Garrou was one of the chief budget-writers in the Senate before Republican took the majority in 2011.
The 75-year-old Warren has served in the House since 1999.
All three will serve out their terms through the end of the year.
The announcements are the latest in an exodus of Democratic lawmakers before candidate filing begins next week.
