NC State Peaking Heading Into NCAA Round Of 16

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina State started the year as the afterthought behind Duke and North Carolina. Not anymore.

The Blue Devils are at home. The Tar Heels are limping into the NCAA tournament's round of 16 and facing uncertainty after a critical injury.

But N.C. State is healthy and surging into the tournament's second weekend -- and looking like the best team at this moment on Tobacco Road.

Junior Scott Wood said "it really is who gets hot near the end of the year" and the Wolfpack became one of those teams.

The 11th-seeded Wolfpack (24-12) faces No. 2 seed Kansas on Friday in the Midwest Regional in St. Louis. It's the program's first trip to the round of 16 in seven years and its first NCAA appearance in six.

Best of luck to the Wolfpack tonight! I hope they and UNC meet each other in the Elite 8, with UNC winning again. I'll be with both of my brothers tonight to watch these 2 games.

Well I guess they should just call off the game then right? I mean if there is no way State can win why play? That is what youre are saying, right?

While I am a Duke fan, they did not play well enough to advance, given that they were a live or die by the 3 point shot team this year. With that being said, I have always loved the Pack also. Would love to see them advance, would really love to see them pull off another '83 type final finish. Go Pack Go!!!! Anyone but Tarbabies.
