Officials in Raleigh now estimate at least 46 people are without a home Monday morning after flames ripped through their apartments Sunday night.
WRAL reports one woman saw another mother tossed her baby from the burning building, but she saw no one below to catch the child.
The fire broke out around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, according to fire officials.
Crews said the blaze started at 611 Peyton Street, off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard,
In total, 17 people were reportedly taken to a local hospital.
Our affiliate, WNCN, is reporting 46 people are without their homes.
Raleigh firefighters said it took about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
