The girlfriend of a missing man has been charged with murder after the man's body was found in a freezer in his Raleigh home.

52-year-old David Green Junior was last seen alive in April. A family member reported him missing in September. The Wake County Sheriff's Office says he died from severe head trauma. His girlfriend, 41-year-old Wendy Green, faces murder charges in his death.

Investigators searched Green's home on Ray Road last month to speak with his family about his possible whereabouts. They returned to the home this week to do a more thorough check and followed a foul odor to a sealed freezer where they discovered his body.

Wake County Sheriff, Donnie Harrison said,"Once we found the body we knew we had a murder, and of course one lead goes to another lead, and we got enough evidence to get a murder warrant."

Wendy Green appeared in court Thursday afternoon. The judge did not set bond for her.
