Lesbian Couple Asked To Leave By Raleigh Shopping Center

(CNN) -- A lesbian couple who say they were asked to leave a North Carolina shopping center after sharing a kiss and a hug met with the center's property manager on Saturday.

"We welcomed the opportunity to sit down with the women and offer our sincere regrets over last week's incident," said George York, president of York Properties, which manages the Cameron Village shopping center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The incident took place Wednesday at Cameron Village.

Caitlin Breedlove told CNN Raleigh affiliate WRAL that she and her partner were being affectionate, but appropriate with one another, when a security officer asked them to leave the shopping center.

The officer told the couple that they were being inappropriate and that "nobody wants to see that here at Cameron Village," Breedlove said.

The couple asked to speak to the officer's supervisor.

Dan Palatucci, who manages the Flying Biscuit restaurant at the shopping center, where the couple had eaten before the incident, told WRAL that he also voiced concern about the officer's actions to Cameron Village's management. "We really just don't discriminate at all," he said. "We love everybody that loves our food."

On Saturday, York said his company is planning additional sensitivity training for its security personnel.

"We apologized that the women were offended, and we affirmed that Cameron Village and York Properties, Inc. have no tolerance for discrimination of any kind and believe all people deserve the right to be treated fairly in their work, homes and daily lives," York said in a statement.

A letter of apology was also sent to the women, he said.

Breedlove is a gay activist, but she says the incident wasn't planned.

WRAL reported that the American Civil Liberties Union may take legal action over the episode.

Kay, because some things are normal and some aren't. You get it or are you just living that progressive HIV lifestyle? You say its OK for men....do you want them to die a miseable painfull death? Now that is vindictive! Well, I am just hoping this will be OK so I can be public with my sheep...hey, they conscent, one hoof is OK, two means no...I respect that. I mean, can't perverts be able to practice their preferences in America? What has happend to this land of opportunity and freedom? I want my rights to marry my sheep if she/he condones and I want it now! The injustice of sexual perversion....get a clue...please, get a clue!

It's a kiss and a hug. Honestly, as long as it wasn't intimate and inappropriate, eg snogging/making out, I think it's acceptable. Even if it is between two females. Or two males. I presume the security officer wouldn't expel a heterosexual couple. Why this exclusive treatment for same sex couples?

"Judge not, lest ye be judged" warns us to be prepared to be judged by the same standard we are making a judgment. For Christians that standard should be the Bible. Jt, it would behoove you to read mt 7:1-5. Remember the verse does not say, "JUDGE NOT" period. It continues with, "LEST YE BE JUDGED." That statement has follow-up verses to complete the context of which the author is speaking. Jt, be careful how you yourself judge "REAL CHRISTIANS". The Bible is my standard/filter through which I view the world. Let's face it, today it's not popular to declare anything wrong. It's intolerant, it's anti-Christian, it's bigoted, it's hateful and mean-spirited. Realistically, simply put the Word of God is being rejected veiled secular humanism is Its replacement. "For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see..."

Well, I am proud of the officer. It should be done with both gays and non-gays alike. That was a public places where families go and children to. What happened to keeping your private life that private. As far as christians not judging others, but is it your job also to stand aside and let people break Gods law and you keep on going like it is not your problem. What is that all about?

Well don't group all Christians with some of these, Yes its true same sex is not something that is in line withing the Christian religion, but however neither is cheating on you wife, sleeping with multiple people. With that aside it is not our job to judge as REAL CHRISTIANS. Remember "judge not lest ye be judged." Our job as Christians regardless of what ever the sin may be is to love on people and not to judge or discriminate. I have family that is of he gay/lesbian persuasion i still love them no matter what and I don't brow beat them when I see them. Now I am pretty sure that I will catch fire from both sides. We are all human and I have been around people from all walks of life and we all have skeletons believers and non-believer. So to all Christians stop the hate and show some love and compassion. I do not condone this couples actions, but I refuse to condemn them because that is not my place to do that.

ACLU stands for "I'm going to sue you if you are not a left-wing liberal and don't agree with what we stand for." They will burn in the deepest parts of Hell.

If real Christians didn't stand up for what the Bible says, then they wouldn't be real Christians would they? They have their rights just as much as anyone else does and all moral judgements are based on the law of the Bible so where does your judgement come since you are a non-believer. There is a difference between judging and righteous indignation. You can't turn a blind eye to something YOU KNOW is WRONG.

BEING A LESBIAN IS NOT A COLOR OR RACE IT'S A LIFESTYLE LIKE BEING A ROCK STAR ,RAPPER ,SURFER ,A COKE HEAD,A WEED HEAD ,AS YOU CAN SEE YOU CHOOSE THINGS IN LIFE ,BUT SOMETHING IN PUBLIC ARE NOT OR SHOULD BE OUTTED. KID'S ARE WHAT ARE IMPORTANT AND SELF RESPECT , THING WE HAVE BEEN LOSING SINCE THE 1950'S .BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE ,BUT RESPECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS,AND THEN PEOPLE WELL MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH IT.
