Could Idol Winner Scott McCreery Become An ECU Pirate?

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery, a Garner native, is applying to colleges, one of them East Carolina University.

According to online articles at theboot.com and blogcritics.com, McCreery has applied to several colleges. Reports indicate his first acceptance letter came from ECU.

McCreery, a senior, told blogcritics.org he has also applied to North Carolina State, Belmont University and Middle Tennessee State. McCreery said in the interview that he is not certain where he will go.

The18-year-old is currently on tour with Brad Paisley. He won American Idol in May 2011. His song "I Love You This Big" hit the country top 20 list, and his song "The Trouble With Girls" hit the top 40.

This tweet was on the ECU Admissions Twitter page:

The tweet then links to the story on theboot.com, in which McCreery is quoted as saying he is not certain what his plans are yet.
