CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina guard P.J. Hairston says he'll return for his junior season instead of entering the NBA draft.
Hairston averaged 18.2 points and shot 40 percent on 3-pointers over the final 13 games after becoming a starter in a four-guard lineup. He averaged a team-high 14.6 points this season.
In a statement from the school Friday, Hairston said returning was "my way of supporting" coach Roy Williams and his teammates. He also tweeted: "My junior year will be one to remember."
Hairston helped UNC (25-11) dig out of an 0-2 start in the Atlantic Coast Conference to reach the ACC tournament final and the third round of the NCAA tournament.
Sophomore forward James Michael McAdoo and junior guard Reggie Bullock have yet to announce whether they will return next year.
