NEW RULE: Governor Says No More New Rules

Gov. Beverly Perdue says her administration is trying to prevent bureaucracy from trumping common sense by restricting new rules issued by North Carolina government agencies.

Perdue announced Thursday in Pittsboro she's ordering her Cabinet secretaries to avoid creating new rules unless they're absolutely necessary or protect the health and safety of citizens.

She can't force Council of State members and their departments to follow the order but asked that they do so. Perdue laid out a plan to allow for some new rules when they're approved by her state budget office.

Perdue also said citizens, local governments and business should contact her office to point out rules that need to be reformed or eliminated.

Governmental agenices have absolutely no right to make ANY laws regarding taxation and regulationws. It is the obligation of the legislative branch to do so. The flunkies in the legislature have the govenmental agencies do their dirty work(fees and surcharges, and egregious regulations in order to keep themselves out of the limelight. THROW THE BUMS OUT!!

As a state employee I can tell you that corruption, cronyism and blatant disregard for policy has only increased since Gov. Perdue took office. I was no fan of Sleasly or Gov. Perdue, but I never thought things could actually get worse, I was wrong.

What a "feel good" monumental waste of time. The problem exists with the political hacks appointed by this governor and her predecessor to run the agencies. Many front line state employees can tell you what is wrong, but no one is listening.

Bev Perdue is a trainwreck and will not be re-elected. I cannot wait to see the look on her face (past the plastic surgery) when she realizes she is NC's first one-term governor. Bev, thank your lucky stars Obama ("hope" "change") was on the ticket the first time, but it's time you head back to new bern and stay there.
