RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Hurricanes have called up goalie Mike Murphy from their AHL affiliate in Charlotte to replace the injured Brian Boucher.
The team announced the move Tuesday, about 11 hours before its game at Calgary.
The Hurricanes say Boucher suffered a lower body injury during practice Monday in Calgary, but did not elaborate on the injury.
Boucher is 0-4-1 in seven games as Cam Ward's backup.
The 22-year-old Murphy was recalled for the first time. He is 9-5 with a 2.44 goals-against average in 15 games in Charlotte.
