'Canes Sign Dwyer To 2-Year Contract Extension

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Patrick Dwyer to a two-year contract extension through the 2014-15 season.

The team said Wednesday that it will pay Dwyer $900,000 per season in both 2013-14 and 2014-15. He was already under contract for 2012-13, when he is scheduled to make $650,000.

General manager Jim Rutherford calls Dwyer "an excellent fit for our organization."

The 29-year-old Dwyer had five goals and seven assists last season, his fourth in the NHL. He has 21 goals and 22 assists during his career.
