More disturbing details about the woman charged with trying to steal an infant from Duke University Hospital on Tuesday.
Published reports say 28-year-old Tanisha Weaver pulled a knife on a pregnant woman on April 5th. Weaver was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and released on bond.
Prosecutors say Weaver tried to get a baby because she owed someone money. She's now in jail, under $100,000 bond.
A newborn is safe this Wednesday morning, after authorities say a woman tried to steal the child from the hospital.
Durham Police say 28 year old Tanisha Weaver attempted to abduct an infant from Duke Hospital yesterday.
Police have not released details on the incident, but hospital administrators say they credit the staff for intervening until police could arrive.
According to court dockets, Weaver bonded out of jail on April 6th from Franklin county on assault with a deadly weapon charge.
