There's been another legal challenge filed over the redistricting maps in the state.
Four community groups, including the NAACP, filed suit Friday morning in Wake County Superior Court pertaining to the redistricting maps. The lawsuit says the new boundaries are an "intentional and cynical use of race" that harms minorities.
"For a party to impose its own political aspirations on a state by engaging in extreme political re-segregation of the people of the state, that is a serious political question that is not democrat or republican. It's about who are we as North Carolinians," said
Dr. William Barber, NC NAACP.
The new maps set the stage for republicans to preserve or expand their political gains in the legislature. The GOP says any claims of discrimination in the new boundaries are baseless.
