Explosion Temporarily Closes NC Mall; No Injuries Reported

Officials say an explosion in the basement of a Raleigh mall led to the temporary closure of the shopping center, but no injuries were reported.

Jerry Pace of the Raleigh Fire Department told WTVD in Durham that the explosion Friday evening blew the top of an electrical box, cutting power to Crabtree Valley Mall stores.

Three shoppers were trapped in an elevator for about 45 minutes until power was restored.

The cause of the explosion had not been determined. Business returned to normal within a few hours.
