NC Man Dies From Electrocution

North Carolina police say a 23-year-old man has been electrocuted while trying to steal copper wiring from an electrical substation.

Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin told WRAL-TV in Raleigh that William Joshua Reavis of Aberdeen was cutting copper wire used for grounding at the power station early Saturday morning.

Peterkin says Reavis was electrocuted and fell 10 feet to the ground. A friend found Reavis' body.

A spokesman for substation owner Lumbee River Electric Membership Corp. says a chain and lock on a fence around the property had been cut.

Peterkin said his office is investigating.

u people make me sick, this boy had a family who loved him and he had love for them. we are not here to judge but to help people. Maybe one day one of u "taxpayers" will get hungry enough to steal or maybe one of your children will make a careless mistake that leaves them in the morgue. You should watch what u say because none of these comments are helpful to his parents, sister or the rest of his friends and family.

Josh was my family and my friend. and yes he stole some things but that does not change how good of a heart he had. and this website should be shut down for allowing these type of comments to be shown. i and the rest of his family and friends should not have to look at what these ignorant people write. but its okay. keep judging but wait tll that day when we are on here reading about your brother, cousin, or close friend.. RIP JOSH, WE LOVE YOU. you guys should be ashamed. grow up. stealing copper hardly deserves the death penalty.

What a stupid statement! how about the electric company suing his family for the outage, and the materials to fix what the guy tore up!The economy is bad, but your stupid "Blaming Bush" for everything is just why it is so bad!! I guess we should have a 3 day waiting period on copper now right? Liberals like you are whay the economy is messed up, and your to self absorbed to even see the errors of you ways!

That's what the S O B gets for being a thief. To the guy's family, I wish them comfort and strength from God to be provided. As far as the ones all glad, I would'nt wish that upon anyone, but may that be a lesson to all potential thieves in the future.

This is pathetic. I pray that each and everyone one of you never have to witness such a horrible, tragic thing happen to one of your family members. Although he was stealing something, it isn't comedic the way he died. It is HORRIBLE!!! His family loved him dearly, and so did his friends. No....maybe he didn't belong there and he shouldn't have been stealing, but it isn't right for ANY of you to sit here and judge him as if you knew him...making your trashy comments "he got what he deserved", etc. BULL CRAP! I am sure every single one of you have a family member that has stolen something at one time or another...maybe even you have....but God forbid something happen to you or your family member. I think each of you should be ashamed of yourself for judging someone you don't even know. You don't know the situation either. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE!!!

it would be stupid for his family to try and sue the electric company for this. the idiot should not have been entering an area he had no business in first off, secondly, he should not have been stealing. i have no sympathy for this event.

I guess they will file charges against the business and the family will file a lawsuit.
