New Winterville Police Chief: We're Going To Be Problem Solvers

Winterville's new police chief is settling in to his new position.

Ryan Willhite comes to the job with more than 18 years of experience in law enforcement, and he's a former Marine- most recently serving in Iraq back in 2006.

He says he's prepared to lead Winterville's police department, and his officers will have more to do than just write tickets and patrol neighborhoods. "We're going to be problem solvers as well. We're going to reach out to all of the resources to try to find the root of what's actually happening in the communities, and we're going to have a partnership with those communities to try to solve those problems."

Willhite served as the basic law enforcement training coordinator at Pitt Community College for the last 11-years, and he spent more than 7 years with the Greenville Police Department before that.
