WITN And Pirates Set For Saturday Hoops Game At Charlotte

WITN will air Saturday's game between East Carolina and Charlotte live starting at 7pm. Here's a look at the matchup between two unbeaten teams.

-The Pirates improved to 5-0 with a 62-53 win at Georgia State Monday, while the 49ers won their sixth straight game to start the year with a victory over Northeastern in the championship game of the Great Alaska Shootout last Saturday.

-ECU is playing its second straight road game after opening the season with four in-a-row at home. Three of the Pirates remaining five games before the Christmas break are on the road (Charlotte, North Carolina, UMass).

-Saturday’s game will be the fifth meeting between the schools in the past four years. Charlotte has won three of the past four games and 14 of the last 17 dating back to 1984.

-ECU is looking for its first win over the 49ers in Charlotte since 1983. The Pirates have lost seven straight games in the series on the road.

-East Carolina has won 10 consecutive non-conference games dating back to last season.

-A victory would give Coach Jeff Lebo his 250th career win.

-Senior Miguel Paul needs five assists to become the 14th player in school history with 200 career helpers.

-Senior Maurice Kemp will be looking to record a fourthstraight double-double. He posted three consecutive double- doubles last season in games against Gardner-Webb, N.C. Central and Virginia-Wise.

-Junior Robert Sampson will be going after his third consecutive double-double and fourth overall this season.

-Sophomore Paris Roberts-Campbell is a native Charlottean and attended East Mecklenburg High School and United Faith Christian Academy.
