New parking restrictions are in effect for a Greenville neighborhood and tickets are already being issued to people who violate the new ordinance.
As of Tuesday, non-residents parking in the university area between East 5th Street and the Tar River, and Elm Street and Reade Circle, are being issued $20.00 tickets.
After October 14th, violators will be towed.
The new ordinance requires residents to get a $5.00 permit to park there for the entire year, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Only residents are eligible for the permits and they have to bring their lease with them to prove their residency when they apply.
By 11 a.m. Tuesday code enforcement crews had ticketed over 30 vehicles.
