Troopers say speed caused a crash Monday afternoon that sent one driver to the hospital.
The Red Oak Fire Department responded to a collision on Highway 264 near the Highway 43 interchange west of Greenville. It happened around 2:30 p.m.
The Highway Patrol says 31-year-old Paul McNiel was traveling westbound on 264 when he crashed into the back of a pickup truck. The truck driver was taken to Vidant Medical Center with cuts on his face, but wasn't believed to be seriously injured.
McNiel was not injured, but was charged with failure to reduce speed. One lane of traffic was blocked off until around 4:15.

The wreck happened near the Highway 43 interchange, west of Greenville, around 2:25 p.m.
Firefighters on the scene say it involved a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle that were both westbound near exit 75.
The pickup truck driver was taken to Vidant Medical Center, while the other driver wasn't hurt.
The right lane of the highway has been closed off due to the crash.
