With Beryl coming our way public officials are preparing for potential floods, and say you should be doing the same.
The best option out there is to not drive at all, but engineer Preston Hunter says if you need to travel, at least be smart about traveling through roads that have already started to flood.
"You don't know what's under that road, you don't know how deep the water is. So you just don't need to go through it. That's the biggest problem we see is people trying to go through water, " said Hunter.
Hunter says along with driving through water, speeding is definitely a major problem during flooding. Members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol in Greenville told us that going the speed limit isn't enough, drivers should be going as slow as they need to based on the conditions.
