Today marks one year since the Farmville triple murder that resulted from an armed robbery of the Hustle Mart at Joyner Crossroads.
26-year-old Nabil (Sam) Almoganahi, 24-year-old Gaber (David) Alawi and 16-year-old Mokbel (Sam) Almoganahi were shot and killed while working at the Hustle Mart on April 1, 2012.
A total of 8 people have been arrested in connection with the murders; four of them officially charged with the murders; Willie Whitehead, Antwan Anthony, Xavier Shamble and 15-year-old Raekwon Blount.
In October of 2012, Sheriff Neil Elks said his investigators had intelligence of a murder and kidnapping plot targeting the himself, his family, and members of the district attorney's office. The ultimate goal was to get Whitehead out of jail.
Antwan Anthony was moved to Central Prison in Raleigh after trying to stab a jailer with a pen in November of 2012. Anthony is also charged in the March murders of an Edgecombe County couple at their Princeville home.
In late August, a grand jury indicted then 14-year-old Blount for the deaths of the three workers. Also in August, a judge decided Blount would be tried as an adult.
Four others have been charged in connection to the case.
Zipporah Purvis and Ashley Johnson are charged with accessory after the fact.
Blount's mother, Valerie Blount was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Whitehead's brother, Timothy House is charged with destroying evidence.
