The Highway Patrol said a 55-year-old Winterville man fell asleep at the wheel shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, flipping his SUV into an embankment.
Trooper William Brown told WITN Otha Belvin of Winterville apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his 2002 Suzuki SUV when he veered left off Highway 264 near exit 63 by the Pitt-Greene county line.
Trp. Brown said Belvin then corrected and veered right, flipping his SUV into an embankment.
Troopers said remarkably, Belvin was not hurt in the rollover wreck.
Trp., Brown said Belvin was driving the speed limit, which is 70 miles-per-hour for that stretch of highway.
Belvin will be charged with reckless driving.
No other cars were involved in the wreck.
