A wreck this afternoon on a busy thoroughfare clogged Greenville traffic.
Greenville police say the elderly driver of a minivan pulled out from Whitely Road in front of an oncoming car on Fire Tower Road .
The driver of the minivan, 85-year-old Walter Beddard of Ayden, was trapped inside for about 30 minutes. He refused to be transported to the hospital.
Police say the other driver, Thomas Harvey from Winterville, was taken to Vidant Medical Center with minor injuries.
Beddard was charged with making an unsafe movement by police.
Westbound traffic on Fire Tower Road was blocked for about an hour.
