Stephen LaRoque New Trial Hearing Delayed For Fourth Time

For the fourth time a hearing over whether a former state lawmaker will get a new federal trial has been delayed.

Stephen LaRoque was scheduled to appear before Senior Judge Malcomb Howard on Thursday in Greenville. But the U.S. Attorney's Office says that hearing has been reset to February 13th.

This past summer the Kinston Republican was convicted of 12 counts, including theft, fraud and money laundering. Howard granted a new trial on two of the 12 counts against the former representative after finding out Juror #3 had done outside research online. However, LaRoque's attorney argues he should get a new trial on all 12 counts.

The original hearing was supposed to happen back in September.
