Simpson Police Chief John Waters had to be hospitalized overnight after his vehicle wrecked in Greenville.
According to Waters his vehicle hydroplaned then struck a tree near Portertown Rd. and Fire Tower Rd. around midnight.
Greenville EMS transported him to Vidant Medical Center and he was released with bruises around 4 a.m. Saturday.
Waters says he was going 35 mph, but lost control of his car due to heavy rain.
The Greenville Police department is investigating the wreck. Calls to police for information have not yet been returned.
