A local sheriff's office is warning those who owe child support to make sure they're paying it.
On Thursday, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office released the mug shots of people who are delinquent in paying child support in the county.
Officials say it is very important to follow protocol when establishing a case through the Department of Social Services. They say the beginning step is the key requirement that leads to child support enforcement when the non-custodial parent does not comply.
If someone ignores child support paperwork, law enforcement officials say they are considered the parent by default. If you receive papers, contact the Pitt County Department of Social Services for information.
If a parent needs to file for child support they can go by the Pitt County Child Support Office and file an application.
