A rollover accident closed down a Pitt County highway for a time Friday morning.
Rescue crews were called to Stokestown-St. Johns Road near County Home Road around 10:30 a.m.
The SUV rolled over several times, landing in the ditch along the road.
Debris from the crash ended up in an adjacent corn field.
Trooper William Brown says Jan Ormond of Ayden was southbound on the road when she was distracted by something flying into the window.
Her Chevy Tahoe ran off the right side the road, hit a culvert and barely missed a power pole. Her vehicle flipped several times before landing on its side.
The woman was taken to Vidant Medical Center, but Brown says she was talking before leaving the accident scene.
The Highway Patrol reopened the road a short time later.
