An investigation is underway after a restaurant owner in Pitt County is robbed by a man armed with a machete. Now if this situation sounds familiar, that's because the same thing happened, at the same restaurant about a month ago.
The owner of Number 1 Chinese restaurant in Winterville says around 9 p.m. Sunday a man, wearing a blue bandana and a black hoodie, came into the restaurant, armed with a machete and demanded money.
"He took it out right at the front door and he banged the machete on the counter a few times," said owner Danny Wu. "So it was pretty obvious that he wanted money."
It was back on March 6th that the same thing happened and the robbery was caught on camera. At that time the robber had a similar description, wearing a blue bandana and hood over his head. No one was injured in either robbery.
Winterville police says the robber made off with about $400 in cash Sunday. Chief Billy Wilkes says they have persons of interest in the two robberies, but won't say if they believe the same man is responsible for both hold-ups.
