According to a report by the Virginian Pilot newspaper, The Old Dominion Monarchs will open the 2013 football schedule at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium against Conference USA opponent ECU.
The newspaper cited an unidentified source who also said The Citadel agreed to cancel its contract to play at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium next season in return for playing at Old Dominion. The source went on to say ECU athletic director Terry Holland then agreed to schedule ODU in place of The Citadel.
Old Dominion moves up to FBS (old Division I) in 2014, when it begins playing a full Conference USA schedule.
