Temperatures hit triple digits Friday for the first time this year in the east, but that didn't stop some little leaguers from hitting the baseball diamond.
The Cal Ripken tournament had its 12 and under teams playing in Stokes in Pitt County, with games at 6:00 and 8:00 Friday night.
John Batten's son plays for Tri-Community. He says the weather is only going to get worse from here. "Any of the tournaments if you go into them now it's July, it's August, and you just have to prepare for it. Drink enough fluids so your body can stand it."
The parents told us they expect conditions to be even worse for the players on Saturday, not only because it's supposed to be hotter, but the games start at 3:00 in the afternoon.
