A local man was arrested after he beat a man to the point of needing surgery, lawmen said.
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office arrested 32-year-old Jeremy Edmundson of Farmville Wednesday night. Officials said Edmundson beat a man at the Woodland Hills mobile home park near Farmville last Friday.
Lt. Phil Moore said Edmundson and the victim were in a dispute and when the victim went into a home. Edmundson allegedly locked the door behind him and assaulted him, possibly with brass knuckles.
The victim is scheduled to have surgery Monday.
Edmundson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and false imprisonment. His bail is set at $50,000.
