A woman is accused of reporting a fake robbery outside a Grifton store to cover up damage she did to a car.
Jennifer Cuthrell claimed she was robbed at the Kash and Karry in Grifton May 7th. The Pitt County Sheriffs Office says her story didn't make sense and investigated further.
Surveillance video and witness statements showed the robbery never happened. Deputies say Cuthrell admitted she made the false claim because she damaged the store owner's car with her scooter and was trying to keep their attention off of that.
