The victim of a shooting at her Pitt County apartment Friday is out of the hospital after Fountain Police say she was shot 6 times by her boyfriend.
Police say an argument ended in gunfire between Latasha Battle and her boyfriend Malcolm King at the Deerfield II apartments in Pitt County . Police say King fled the scene and was later found in a corn field off of Highway 258.
King is charged with attempted 1st degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Police tracked down a shooting suspect in a corn field Friday night after they say he shot his girlfriend in a Pitt County apartment and took off.
Fountain Police Chief Bobby Dildy says 40-year-old Malcolm King shot 38-year-old Tasha Battle in their apartment at Deerfiled II Apartments during a domestic dispute that escalated about 5:40 pm Friday.
King is charged with attempted murder and is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under no bond.
Police found Battle with a gunshot wound to her leg and she was taken to the hospital. Chief Dildy says she was shot at six times, but he could only confirm the leg wound. A K-9 team searched for King and found him about a hour later in a corn field off highway 258 and took him into custody.
